• R2 each are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, (C1-4)alkyl, phenyl(C1-4)alkyl, imidazolyl(C1-4)alkyl, imidazolyl(C1-4)alkylcarbonyl, imidazolylcarbonyl, morpholinyl(C1-4)alkyl, piperidinyl(C1-4)alkyl, and di(C1-4)alkylamino(C1-4)alkyl;
• R3 is selected from the group consisting of (C1-8)alkyl,

• Q is N or CR8;
• W is selected from the group consisting of a bond, NH, O, S, and C6H5CH;
• Y is selected from the group consisting of CHR11, NR11, O, and S;
• q is 0 or 1;
• r is 0 or 1;
• R4 is selected from the group consisting of C1-4alkyl, C3-7cycloalkyl, phenyl, phenyl(C1-4)alkyl, napthalenyl, benzodioxolyl, benzodioxanyl, pyridinyl, quinolinyl, thienyl, benzothienyl, dibenzothienyl, and phenoxathiinyl;
• and wherein said phenyl, thienyl and pyridyl are optionally substituted with one to three substituents each independently selected from halogen, trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, nitro, C1-4alkyl, C1-4alkoxy, C1-4thioalkoxy, C1-4alkylcarbonyl, di(C1-4alkyl)amino, amino, carboxyl, phenyl, phenyl(C1-4)alkyl, phenyloxy, and phenylmethoxy;
• R5, R.6, R7 and
• R8 each are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, C1-8alkyl, trifluoromethyl, nitro, XR9, phenyl, and phenyl(C2-6)alkenyl, wherein said phenyl is optionally substituted with one to two halogen or nitro groups;
• or any two variables selected from the group consisting of R5, R6, R7 and R8, when attached to adjacent carbon atoms in a ring containing Q or Y and taken together can be —OCH2O—, —O(CH2)2O—, —CH═CH—CH═CH—, or —CH═CH—N(R11)-;
• X is selected from the group consisting of NR10, O, and S(O)m, wherein m is 0, 1, or 2;
• R9 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-8alkyl, phenyl, phenyl(C1-4)alkyl, and wherein said phenyl and phenyl(C1-4)alkyl are optionally substituted with one to three substituents each independently selected from nitro, trifluoromethyl, halogen and C1-4alkyl;
• R10 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-8alkyl, and phenyl;
• and
• R11 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C1-4alkyl, C1-4alkylsulfonyl, phenyl, phenyl(C1-4)alkyl, and phenylsulfonyl, wherein said phenyl, phenyl(C1-4)alkyl, and phenylsulfonyl are optionally substituted with one to three substituents each independently selected from C1-4alkyl or halogen.
