Abstract
The invention relates to polypeptides from phytopathogenic fungi with the biological activity of an inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, to nucleic acids encoding them, to the use of the polypeptides and nucleic acids for identifying modulators of the polypeptides, to methods for identifying such modulators, and to the use of these modulators as fungicides.
Claims22
a method of identifying one or more fungicides comprising
- (a) contacting a polypeptide with the biological activity of an imp dehydrogenase with a chemical compound or a mixture of chemical compounds,
- (b) comparing the biological activity of the imp dehydrogenase in the presence of the chemical compound or the mixture of chemical compounds with a biological activity of an imp dehydrogenase in the absence of the chemical compound or the mixture of chemical compounds, and
- (c) determining if said chemical compound inhibits the biological activity of the imp dehydrogenase of the polypeptide:
A nucleic acid encoding a polypeptide from phytopathogenic fungi with the biological activity of an IMP dehydrogenase.
A polypeptide from phytopathogenic fungi with the biological activity of an IMP dehydrogenase which comprises an amino acid sequence with at least 60% identity with the sequence as shown in SEQ ID NO:
- 2 or SEQ ID NO:
- 4.
A method for controlling phytopathogenic fungi wherein an inhibitor of a fungal IMP dehydrogenase is applied to a phythopathogenic fungi.
