This invention provides methods of treating cancer employing mutant herpes viruses and anticancer agents, such as chemotherapeutic drugs.

A-method of treating cancer in a patient, said method comprising administering to said patient (i) an attenuated herpes virus in which a γ34.5 gene is inactivated, and (ii) a chemotherapeutic drug.
A method of treating cancer in a patient, said method comprising administering to said patient (i) an attenuated herpes virus in which a ribonucleotide reductase gene is inactivated and (ii) a chemotherapeutic drug.
