A digital information recording and reproducing apparatus comprising:

• a recording section configured to record digital information;
• and
• a control section configured to read the digital information from the recording section and then output the information to the exterior, on the basis of a backup request transmitted to the recording section.

A digital information recording and reproducing system comprising:

• a first recording and reproducing apparatus having a recording section configured to record digital information and a control section configured to read the digital information from the recording section and then output the information to the exterior, on the basis of a backup request transmitted to the recording section;
• and
• a second recording and reproducing apparatus configured to be controlled by the first recording and reproducing apparatus to record the digital information output to the exterior by the control section.

A recording and reproducing apparatus controlled by a digital information recording and reproducing apparatus comprising a recording section configured to record digital information, and a control section configured to read the digital information from the recording section and then output the information to the exterior, on the basis of a backup request transmitted to the recording section, the recording and reproducing apparatus recording and reproducing the digital information output by the digital information recording and reproducing apparatus.
