Connector

A connector, comprising:

• a housing (10) formed with cavities (13) for receiving terminal fittings (30), and locks (21) projecting respectively into the cavities (13), the locks (21) each being deformable in a deformation direction (DD) in response to forces exerted by the terminal fitting (30) being inserted into the respective cavity (13), the locks (21) resiliently returning to engage and lock the terminal fitting (30) when the terminal fitting (30) substantially reaches a proper depth in the respective cavity (13);
• wherein the cavities (13) are arranged at a plurality of stages along the deforming direction (DD) of the locks (21);
• each lock (21) comprising an engaging portion (29) which projects in a projecting direction (PD) that intersects the deforming direction (DD), at least one of the engaging portions (29) substantially facing a side wall (25A) that extends along the deforming direction (DD) of the respective cavity (13) and being located before the lock (21) with respect to the deforming direction (DD), such that said at least one engaging portion (29) is received by the corresponding side wall (25A) to prevent the corresponding lock (21) from undergoing excessive deformation.
