Network device management system and method of controlling same

A control method for displaying information relating to a device connected on a network, comprising:

• a display step of displaying, at a client apparatus, information relating to the device by a client apparatus;
• a requesting step of requesting, from the client apparatus, a server apparatus for log information relating to the device;
• an acquisition step of acquiring, at the server apparatus, log information relating to the device using a prescribed protocol at intervals corresponding to the device;
• and
• a transmitting step of transmitting log information from the server apparatus to the client apparatus.

A network device management system comprising a client apparatus and a server apparatus, wherein said server apparatus includes:

• acquisition means for acquiring information relating to a device;
• storage means for storing the information acquired by said acquisition means;
• generating means for generating, as change information, a changed part of information relating to the device, based upon the information that has been stored in said storage means;
• and
• transmitting means for transmitting the change information generated by said generating means to said client apparatus;
• and
• said client apparatus includes:
• receiving means for receiving change information transmitted by said transmitting means;
• and
• display means for displaying information relating to the device based upon the change information received by said receiving means.

A network device management system in which a server apparatus and a client apparatus send and receive information relating to a device using process-to-process communication, wherein said server apparatus includes:

• acquisition means for acquiring the information relating to the device;
• storage means for storing the information acquired by said acquisition means;
• generating means for generating, as change information, a changed component of information relating to the device, based upon the information that has been stored in said storage means;
• and
• transmitting means for transmitting the change information generated by said generating means to said client apparatus in a data format in which process-to-process communication is possible;
• and
• said client apparatus includes:
• requesting means for requesting said server apparatus for information relating to the device by process-to-process communication;
• receiving means for receiving change information transmitted from said transmitting means;
• and
• display means for displaying information relating to the device based upon the change information received by said receiving means.

A control method for displaying information relating to a device connected on a network, comprising:

• an acquisition step of acquiring, at the server apparatus, information relating to a device;
• a storage step of storing the information acquired at said acquisition step;
• a generating step of generating, as change information, a changed part of information relating to the device, based upon the information that has been stored at said storage step;
• and
• a transmitting step of transmitting the change information generated at said generating step from said server apparatus to said client apparatus;
• a receiving step of receiving, at said client apparatus, change information transmitted at said transmitting step;
• and
• a display step of displaying, at said client apparatus, information relating to the device based upon the change information received at said receiving step.

A control method for displaying information relating to a device connected on a network, comprising:

• an acquisition step of acquiring, at said server apparatus, the information relating to the device;
• a storage step of storing the information relating to the device;
• a generating step of generating, as change information, a changed component of information relating to the device, based upon the information that has been stored at said storage step;
• a transmitting step of transmitting the change information generated at said generating step from said server apparatus to said client apparatus in a data format in which process-to-process communication is possible;
• a receiving step of receiving, at said client apparatus, change information transmitted at said transmitting step;
• and
• a display step of displaying information relating to the device based upon the change information received at said receiving step.

A computer program for managing information relating to a device connected on a network, said program functioning as the following means:

• acquisition means for acquiring information relating to the device;
• generating means for generating, as change information, a changed part of information relating to the device, based upon the information that has been stored in a memory;
• and
• transmitting means for transmitting the change information, which has been generating by said generating means, to said client apparatus.
