The present invention provides a spectrally sensitized photothermographic silver halide element support having a first surface and a second surface, a photothermographic composition that is to be exposed to a laser being disposed on the first surface of the support. The element has at least one back layer disposed on the second surface of the support. The photothermographic composition comprises silver halide emulsion grains having a number average grain size of less than 0.1 μm and that are spectrally sensitized with a sensitizing dye having a spectral sensitivity that corresponds to the spectral properties of the laser. The photothermographic composition further comprises an organic silver salt, a reducing agent for silver ions, and at least one dye. In addition, the photothermographic composition has a transmission optical density greater than 0.1 at the exposure wavelength, and the back layer has a transmission optical density greater than 0.1 at the exposure wavelength.
A photothermographic element comprising a support having a first surface and a second surface, a photothermographic composition that is to be exposed to a laser being disposed on said first surface of said support, and at least one back layer disposed on said second surface of said support,
The element of claim I wherein said light-insensitive organic silver salt comprises a silver salt of a carboxylic acid containing 10 to 30 carbon atoms or a silver salt of a benzotriazole.
A spectrally sensitized photothermographic element comprising a support having on at least one side of said support (a) photosensitive silver halide grains, (b) a non-photosensitive reducible silver source, (c) a reducing agent, and (d) a binder, wherein said photothermographic material further comprises a surface layer containing particulates, wherein the diameter of said particulates is 2 to 9 μm.
A photothermographic element comprising a support and on at least one side thereof, a binder, an organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and photosensitive silver halide grains, wherein
A spectrally sensitized photothermographic element comprising a transparent support having on a side thereof, a binder, an organic silver salt, a reducing agent, and photosensitive silver halide grains, wherein
A spectrally sensitized photothermographic silver halide element comprising a transparent support having on at least one surface thereof a photothermographic emulsion layer having a total uniform thickness of from 10 to 40 μm, said photothermographic emulsion layer comprising a binder, a light insensitive silver source, a reducing agent for silver ion and radiation sensitive silver halide grains, which element displays uniform image density across its surface when exposed to floodlight or uniform incandescent light exposure at a wavelength of radiation to which the photothermographic emulsion layer is sensitive, said uniform image density meaning a variation in optical density of no more than 5% at a gray out optical density of from 1.5 to 1.9 between adjacent areas of 1 mm2 of said photothermographic emulsion layer surface,
