Abstract
This invention relates to an isolated nucleic acid fragment encoding a metalloprotease, more specifically peptide deformylase. The invention also relates to the construction of a recombinant DNA construct encoding all or a portion of peptide deformylase, in sense or antisense orientation, wherein expression of the recombinant DNA construct results in production of altered levels of peptide deformylase in a transformed host cell.
Claims21
An isolated polynucleotide comprising:
- (a) a nucleotide sequence encoding a polypeptide having peptide deformylase activity, wherein the polypeptide has an amino acid sequence of at least 80% sequence identity, based on the Clustal V method of alignment, when compared to one of SEQ ID NO:2, 6, or 8, or
- (b) a complement of the nucleotide sequence, wherein the complement and the nucleotide sequence consist of the same number of nucleotides and are 100% complementary.
An isolated polypeptide having peptide deformylase activity, wherein the polypeptide has an amino acid sequence of at least 80% sequence identity, based on the Clustal V method of alignment, when compared to one of SEQ ID NO:2, 6, or 8.
