Self-contained refrigeration unit

A refrigeration system comprising:

• at least one refrigeration unit comprising, an evaporator;
• a condenser communicating a refrigerant to said evaporator;
• a compressor communicating said refrigerant to said condenser;
• a casing of a predetermined size supporting at least said evaporator and said condenser;
• a frame on a vehicle refrigeration compartment, having an opening of about said predetermined size to receive said casing wherein said refrigerant is substantially communicated within said casing;
• and
• said casing being removable as a unit with said condenser and said evaporator.

A method of changing a refrigeration unit on a vehicle comprising the steps of:

• providing at least an evaporator and a condenser to be removable with a one piece casing, and for providing refrigeration to the interior of a vehicle compartment;
• providing electrical connections to said casing, and removing said electrical connections from said casing and then removing said casing including said evaporator and said condenser as a unit;
• and
• then replacing said casing including said evaporator and said condenser into said vehicle and reconnecting said electrical connections.
