User changeable electronic device/mobile phone covers and method

A method of providing an electronic device with a changeable, two-shot molded cover, comprising the following steps:

• providing an electronic device having actuatable control elements,
• forming a cover by injecting a first shot of material into a first cover mold, the cover mold adapted to cooperate with the first shot material such that when the material hardens, openings are provided through the cover,
• placing the cover into a second cover mold and injecting a second shot of elastomeric material onto the hardened cover, thereby establishing flexible elastomeric regions over selected portions of the hardened cover, as well as over selected openings in the cover, thereby providing a flexible elastomeric region over the selected openings, and
• sliding the cover over the electronic device, thereby juxtaposing the flexible elastomeric regions to selected openings adjacent control elements in the electronic device, thereby providing an electronic device having a changeable cover.

A method of providing an electronic device with changeable, two shot molded covers, comprising the following steps:

• providing an electronic device having actuatabe control elements,
• forming a first cover by injecting a first shot of material into a first cover mold, the first cover mold adapted to cooperate with the first shot material such that, when the material hardens, openings are provided through the first cover,
• placing the first cover into a second cover mold and injecting a second shot of elastomeric material onto the first cover, thereby establishing flexible elastomeric regions over selected portions of the first cover as well as over selected openings in the first cover, thereby providing flexible elastomeric regions over the openings,
• forming a second cover by injecting a first shot of molten material into a second cover mold, the second cover mold adapted to cooperate with the first shot material in the second cover mold such that, when the material hardens, openings are provided through the second cover,
• placing the second cover into a second cover mold and injecting a second shot of elastomeric material onto the second hardened cover, thereby establishing elastomeric regions over the second cover, as well as over selected openings in the second cover, thereby providing flexible elastomeric regions over the selected openings,
• sliding the first cover over the electronic device, thereby juxtaposing the flexible elastomeric regions to the selected openings adjacent control elements in the electronic device;
• and
• sliding the second cover over the electronic device, thereby juxtaposing the flexible elastomeric regions to the selected openings of the second cover adjacent control elements in the electronic device, thereby providing an electronic device that has changeable covers.

A method of providing an electronic device with changeable covers comprising the following steps:

• providing an electronic device having actuatable control elements,
• forming first and second covers for the electronic device by injecting a first shot of molten material into a first cover mold, the cover mold adapted to cooperate with molten material such that, when the first shot material hardens, openings are provided through the formed first and second covers,
• placing the first and second formed covers into a second cover mold,
• injecting a second shot of elastomeric material onto the first and second covers in the second cover mold, the second cover mold adapted to allow the injected elastomeric material to cover select regions of the first and second covers, whereas in others select regions of the covers, the elastomeric material covers openings of the first and second covers,
• sliding the first and second covers having elastomeric material thereon over the electronic device to thereby juxtapose flexible elastomeric regions to control elements in the electronic device and provide an electronic device with changeable covers.
