Image processing apparatus

An image processing apparatus, comprising:

• generating means for generating moving image data;
• still image processing means for generating still image data of a plurality of pictures by using the moving image data;
• and
• recording processing means for generating moving image files containing the moving image data representing a series of moving images, the still image data of the plurality of pictures generated by said still image processing means using the moving image data, and identification data for identifying still image data of one picture among the still image data of the plurality of pictures as representative still image data, and recording the moving image files in a storage medium.

An image processing system, comprising:

• a first apparatus including reproducing means for reproducing a moving image file containing moving image data representing a series of moving images, and still image data of a plurality of pictures related to the moving image data from a recording medium, and recording means for storing identification information for identifying one of the still image data of the plurality of pictures in the moving image file as representative still image data in the moving image file, to be recorded in the recording medium;
• and
• a second apparatus including selecting means for inputting the still image data of the plurality of pictures of the moving image file reproduced by said reproducing means, and selecting the representative still image data from the still image data of the plurality of pictures,
• wherein said recording means generates identification information indicating the representative still image data selected by said selecting means, and stores the identification information in the moving image file.

A method for processing an image, comprising:

• an inputting step of inputting a moving image file containing moving image data representing a series of moving images, and still image data of a plurality of pictures related to the moving image data;
• a selecting step of selecting representative still image data from the still image data of the plurality of pictures of the moving image file inputted in said inputting step;
• and
• a recording step of recording identification information for identifying the selected representative still image data in the moving image file.

A method for processing an image, comprising:

• a generating step of generating moving image data;
• a still image processing step of generating still image data of a plurality of pictures by using the moving image data;
• and
• a recording processing step of generating moving image files containing the moving image data indicating a series of moving images, the still image data of the plurality of pictures generated in the still image, processing step using the moving image data, and identification data for identifying still image data of one picture screen among the still image data of the plurality of pictures as representative still image data, and recording the moving image files in a storage medium.
