Abstract
A method for informing a user of the status of a computer operation having multiple concurrent tasks, comprising maintaining multiple variables, wherein each one of said multiple variables represents the progress of a corresponding one of said multiple tasks; comparing said multiple variables to determine a superior variable, wherein said superior variable is selected based upon at least one predetermined performance criterion; and outputting said superior variable at least once during said computer operation.
Claims8
A method for informing a user of the status of a computer operation having multiple concurrent tasks, comprising:
- a. maintaining multiple variables, wherein each one of said multiple variables represents the progress of a corresponding one of said multiple tasks;
- b. comparing said multiple variables to determine a superior variable, wherein said superior variable is selected based upon at least one predetermined performance criterion;
- and
- c. outputting said superior variable at least once during said computer operation.
An adaptive progress indicator, comprising:
- a. one or more computer readable storage media;
- and
- b. computer readable program code stored in the one or more computer readable storage media, the computer readable program code comprising:
- i. code for filling a plurality of repositories with data;
- ii. code for comparing a plurality of progresses to identify a greatest progress, each of said plurality of progresses corresponding to a progress made in filling one of said plurality of repositories;
- iii. code for displaying an indication of said greatest progress.
