Operating system for operating an eject system and a head retraction system of a disk drive

A disk drive, comprising:

• a head crank that is mechanically linked to a head and can be adapted to be rotated to cause the head to be retracted from a disk cartridge inserted into the disk drive;
• an eject crank that can be adapted to eject the disk cartridge from the disk drive;
• a motor that can power either the head crank or the eject crank;
• and
• an actuator that can be adapted to selectively connect the motor to either the head crank or the eject crank.

A method of retracting heads of a disk drive and ejecting a disk cartridge from the disk drive, comprising:

• activating an actuator to link a motor to a head crank;
• powering the motor to rotate the head crank and thereby retract the heads;
• operating the actuator to link the motor to an eject crank;
• and
• rotating the eject crank with the motor to eject the disk cartridge from the disk drive.

A disk drive adaptable to receive a disk cartridge, comprising:

• a first crank that is adaptable to perform a first function;
• a second crank that is adaptable to perform a second function;
• a motor that can selectively power either the first crank or the second crank;
• and
• a gear train coupled to the motor and the first crank in a first position and coupled to the motor and the second crank in a second position.

A disk drive assembly comprising:

• a chassis, said chassis having a receptacle having a first end attached to the chassis and a second open end with a bore extending therebetween;
• and
• a printed circuit board having a second receptacle having a sidewall defining a proximal open end and a distal open end with a bore extending therebetween, said proximal end attached to said circuit board, said second bore;
• and
• a fastening member secured through each of said bores such that said chassis and printed circuit board are coupled together with the fastening member positioned at least relatively flush against said printed circuit board.
