A wiping article is provided which includes an effervescent cleanser composition held within a pouch formed from a first and second substrate sheet. At least one of the substrate sheets must be water permeable. The effervescent composition is an intimate mixture of an acid material such as citric acid and an alkaline material such as sodium bicarbonate. Water contact causes the combination to effervesce. A dry surfactant such as sodium cocoyl isethionate in contact with the water and effervescing carbon dioxide results in a highly pleasant sudsing system. Skin benefit agents may be included within the composition. The effervescent action may improve deposition of the skin benefit agents onto the skin.
A detergent composition comprising an anionic surfactant, present at a level of from 0.5% to 60% by weight, a cationic surfactant, present at a level of from 0.01% to 30% by weight, and an acid source and an alkali source wherein said acid source and alkali source are capable of reacting together in the presence of water.
A detergent composition according to any preceding claim wherein said anionic surfactant is present at a level of from 6 % to 20% by weight of the composition.
A detergent composition according to any preceding claim wherein said cationic surfactant is present at a level of from 0.1 % to 20% by weight of the composition.
A detergent composition according to any preceding claim wherein the cationic surfactant is present at a level of from 0.5% to 3% by weight of the composition.
A detergent composition according to any preceding claim wherein said cationic ester surfactant is selected from the choline esters having the formula:
A detergent composition according to any preceding claim wherein said cationic mono-alkoxylated amine contains a positively charged amine group, which is substituted with one or two methyl groups, one or two C6-C18 alkyl groups and one (poly) ethoxy group, with an ethoxylation number of from 1 to 4.
A detergent composition or component thereof according to any preceding claim wherein said cationic bis-ethoxylated amine surfactant contains a positively charged amine group, which is substituted with one methyl group, one C6-C18 alkyl group and two (poly) ethoxy groups, with each independently an ethoxylation number of from 1 to 4.
A detergent composition or component thereof according to any preceding claim wherein the ratio of anionic surfactant to cationic surfactant is from 25:1 to 1:3.
A detergent composition according to any proceding claim wherein the alkali source comprises an alkaline salt selected from an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal carbonate, bicarbonate, sesqui-carbonate, or alkali metal percarbonate salt.
A detergent composition according to any preceding claim wherein the acid source comprises an organic, mineral or inorganic acid.
A detergent composition according to any preceding claim wherein the alkali source is present in an amount of from about 2% to about 75% by weight of the composition.
A detergent composition according to any preceding claim wherein the acid source is present in an amount of from 0.5 % to 25% by weight of the composition.
A detergent composition according to any preceding claim wherein 100% of the acid source has a particle size of no greater than 710 microns.
