Abstract
A method for managing alarms in a distributed control system, wherein the method comprises the following steps: monitoring at least one process parameter, activating an alarm when the process parameter exceeds an alarm threshold, deactivating an alarm when the process parameter no longer exceeds the alarm threshold, and determining by an AI based alarm control system before the alarm is activated at least one predicted alarm information, which comprises information about whether the alarm threshold will be exceeded.
Claims14
A method for managing alarms in a distributed control system, the method comprising:
- monitoring at least one process parameter;
- activating an alarm when the process parameter exceeds an alarm threshold;
- deactivating an alarm when the process parameter no longer exceeds the alarm threshold;
- determining by an artificial intelligence (AI) based alarm control system, before the alarm is activated at least one predicted alarm information for the alarm, which comprises information about whether the alarm threshold will be exceeded and when the alarm threshold will be exceeded, wherein the predicted alarm information includes a predicted time at which the alarm threshold will be exceeded and a probability that the alarm threshold will be exceeded;
- and
- adding, by the AI based alarm control system, one or more alarm rules to the distributed control system and modifying one or more pre-existing alarm rules of the distributed control system to create one or more modified alarm rules for managing alarms of the distributed control system.
A system for managing alarms in a distributed control system, wherein the system comprises:
- a process parameter monitor configured to monitor at least one process parameter;
- an alarm control configured to activate an alarm when the process parameter exceeds an alarm threshold and to deactivate the alarm when the process parameter no longer exceeds the alarm threshold;
- an artificial intelligence (AI) based alarm control system configured to determine at least one predicted alarm information before the alarm is activated, the AI based alarm control system comprising information about whether the alarm threshold will be exceeded and when the alarm threshold will be exceeded, wherein the predicted alarm information includes a predicted time at which the alarm threshold will be exceeded and a probability that the alarm threshold will be exceeded;
- and
- wherein the AI based alarm control system adds one or more alarm rules to the distributed control system and modifies one or more pre-existing alarm rules of the distributed control system to create one or more modified alarm rules for managing alarms of the distributed control system.
