Abstract
A maintenance system can be used with a self-driving vehicle. The maintenance system can include a smoke detection system that is coupled to the self-driving vehicle and is configured to detect smoke inside a passenger cabin of the vehicle, a motor compartment of the vehicle, or a battery compartment of the vehicle.
Claims20
A system, comprising:
- a communication system coupled to a self-driving vehicle, the communication system having at least one of an antenna, a transmitter, and a receiver;
- a smoke detection system comprising a first camera having a processor and an ionization smoke detector coupled to the self-driving vehicle and configured to detect smoke inside a portion of the self-driving vehicle;
- and
- a non-transitory computer-readable media executable by a processor selected from the group consisting of the smoke detection system, the communication system, and combinations thereof, the non-transitory computer-readable media configured to cause the processor to carry out the steps of:
- detecting, via the smoke detection system, smoke, and
- sending, via the communication system, a wireless communication to a database,
- wherein the non-transitory computer-readable media is executable by the processor of the first camera, and the non-transitory computer-readable media is configured to cause the first camera to take a picture inside the self-driving vehicle, and
- wherein the non-transitory computer-readable media is configured to cause the processor to carry out the step of analyzing the picture and determining a presence of smoke inside the self-driving vehicle.

A system, comprising:
- a communication system coupled to a self-driving vehicle, the communication system having at least one of an antenna, a transmitter, and a receiver;
- a smoke detection system comprising an infrared light, a blue light, and an optical smoke detector coupled to the self-driving vehicle and the smoke detection system is configured to detect electronic cigarette aerosol inside a portion of the self-driving vehicle;
- and
- a non-transitory computer-readable media executable by a processor selected from the group consisting of the smoke detection system, the communication system, and combinations thereof, the non-transitory computer-readable media configured to cause the processor to carry out the steps of:
- detecting, via the smoke detection system, the electronic cigarette aerosol, and
- sending, via the communication system, a wireless communication to a database,
- wherein the non-transitory computer-readable media is configured to cause the smoke detection system to measure a particle size of the electronic cigarette aerosol.

A system, comprising:
- a communication system coupled to a self-driving vehicle, the communication system having at least one of an antenna, a transmitter, and a receiver;
- a smoke detection system comprising a first camera and an optical smoke detector coupled to the self-driving vehicle and configured to detect electronic cigarette aerosol inside a portion of the self-driving vehicle;
- and
- a non-transitory computer-readable media executable by a processor selected from the group consisting of the smoke detection system, the communication system, and combinations thereof, the non-transitory computer-readable media configured to cause the processor to carry out the steps of:
- detecting, via the smoke detection system, the electronic cigarette aerosol, and
- sending, via the communication system, a wireless communication to a database,
- wherein the non-transitory computer-readable media is executable by a processor of the first camera, and the non-transitory computer-readable media is configured to cause the processor of the first camera to carry out the step of taking a picture in response to the smoke detection system detecting the electronic cigarette aerosol.
