Fiber optic assemblies for coiled tubing

A tubing assembly, comprising:

• a coiled tubing;
• and
• a fiber optic assembly disposed within a flow path of the coiled tubing, wherein the fiber optic assembly comprises:
• a plurality of optical fibers in a coupled optical package, wherein the plurality of optical fibers are the only communication elements within an interior of a metal enclosure of the coupled optical package, the plurality of optical fibers are in intimate contact with the metal enclosure of the coupled optical package, and the metal enclosure extends around an entire circumference of the interior having the plurality of optical fibers;
• and
• an outer metal layer disposed about the metal enclosure.

A tubing assembly, comprising:

• a coiled tubing;
• and
• a fiber optic assembly disposed within a flow path of the coiled tubing, wherein the fiber optic assembly comprises:
• a plurality of optical fibers in a coupled optical package, wherein the plurality of optical fibers are within an interior of a metal enclosure of the coupled optical package, and the metal enclosure extends around an entire circumference of the interior having the plurality of optical fibers;
• and
• an outer metal layer disposed about the metal enclosure, wherein the fiber optic assembly further comprises one of:
• only one layer disposed directly between the metal enclosure and the outer metal layer, wherein the only one layer comprises helical metal strands, helical synthetic strands, metallic tape, or thermoplastic tape;
• or
• only two layers disposed directly between the metal enclosure and the outer metal layer, wherein the only two layers comprise a first layer of insulation disposed directly about the metal enclosure and a second layer of helical metal strands disposed directly about the first layer;
• or
• only three layers disposed directly between the metal enclosure and the outer metal layer, wherein the only three layers comprise a first layer of helical metal strands, helical synthetic strands, metallic tape, or thermoplastic tape disposed directly about the metal enclosure, a second layer of insulation disposed directly about the first layer, and a third layer of helical metal strands disposed directly about the second layer.
