Control mode switching apparatus for vehicle

A control mode switching apparatus for a vehicle, the control mode switching apparatus being configured to switch a control mode among a non-control mode in which a control amount is not changed, an auto mode in which the control amount is automatically changed, and a manual mode in which the control amount is manually changed, the control mode switching apparatus comprising:

• an operator provided at a steering wheel of the vehicle, the operator including a left lever and a right lever of a paddle shift used to change a shift position;
• a processor;
• and
• a memory storing instructions that are executable by the processor and that cause the processor to
• determine an operation aspect of the operator in a case where at least one of the left lever and the right lever is operated by a driver of the vehicle,
• switch a current control mode to the auto mode in a case where the determined operation aspect is a first operation aspect being a long pulling of both the left lever and the right lever,
• switch the current control mode to the manual mode in a case where the determined operation aspect is a second operation aspect being a long pulling of the right lever, and
• switch the current control mode to the non-control mode in a case where the determined operation aspect is a third operation aspect being a long pulling of the left lever, wherein
• the first operation aspect, the second operation aspect, and the third operation aspect correspond to switching target control modes on a one-to-one basis such that the current control mode is switched to a corresponding switching target control mode without confirmation of the current control mode by the driver.
