Low-level waste receptacle

A low-level waste receptacle comprising:

• a body, the body defining a plurality of side walls and an interior portion;
• a lid configured to cover a first access opening of the body and permit selective access to the interior portion of the body;
• a shelf frame disposed within the interior portion of body, wherein the shelf frame is configured for slidable extension relative to the body;
• a shelf bracket extending from a rear wall of the shelf frame;
• a bag-retaining frame pivotably attached to a rear side wall of the plurality of side walls of the body;
• an access door configured to cover a second access opening of the body;
• and
• a foot pedal pivotably connected to the lid,
• wherein the rear wall of the shelf frame and the shelf bracket define a lower rim of a double-rimmed waste bag holder and the bag-retaining frame defines an upper rim of the double-rimmed waste bag holder, the double-rimmed waste bag holder configured to receive and retain a portion of a waste bag,
• wherein the bag-retaining frame is configured to be moveable throughout a range of motion between an open position and a closed position relative to the lower rim,
• wherein a bottom surface of the upper rim defined by the bag-retaining frame comprises a groove channel configured to receive a portion of the lower rim therein, and
• wherein, in the closed position, the bag-retaining frame is configured to retain the portion of the waste bag between the upper rim defined by the bag-retaining frame and the lower rim,
• wherein translation of the foot pedal from a first position to a second position is configured to translate the lid from a closed position to an open position relative to the first access opening of the body, and
• wherein the first position of the foot pedal is configured to prevent the access door from being opened.
