Abstract
A vehicle can operate on a roadway for which a default lane is defined. Upon determining that the vehicle is currently operating on the roadway for which the default lane is defined, a lane override command to select a target lane other than the default lane can be determined based on prior lane selections in the vehicle. A vehicle component can be actuated based on the target lane override command.
Claims20
A system comprising a computer including a processor and a memory, the memory storing instructions executable by the processor such that the computer is programmed to:
- determine that a vehicle is currently operating on a roadway for which a default lane is defined;
- based on prior lane selections in the vehicle, vehicle operating data from respective times of the prior lane selections, and vehicle occupant data that includes current vehicle occupant data and vehicle occupant data from the prior lane selections, wherein the vehicle occupant data comprises vehicle occupant identities or occupant activities associated with respective prior lane selections, determine a lane override command to select a target lane other than the default lane, wherein the vehicle operating data from respective times of the prior lane selections includes relative distances and/or relative speeds of the vehicle from one or more second vehicles when the respective prior lane selections were made;
- and
- actuate a vehicle component based on the target lane override command.
A method, comprising:
- determining that a vehicle is currently operating on a roadway for which a default lane is defined;
- based on prior lane selections in the vehicle, vehicle operating data from respective times of the prior lane selections, and vehicle occupant data that includes current vehicle occupant data and vehicle occupant data from the prior lane selections, wherein the vehicle occupant data comprises vehicle occupant identities or occupant activities associated with respective prior lane selections, determining a lane override command to select a target lane other than the default lane, wherein the vehicle operating data from respective times of the prior lane selections includes relative distances and/or relative speeds of the vehicle from one or more second vehicles when the respective prior lane selections were made;
- and
- actuating a vehicle component based on the target lane override command.
