Fluid injection hollow cone spray nozzle assembly

A spray nozzle assembly for injecting a fluid into a fluid medium with the spray nozzle assembly being submerged in the fluid medium, the spray nozzle assembly comprising:

• a nozzle cap body having an internal fluid passage, the internal fluid passage having an upstream end and a downstream end, the downstream end of the internal fluid passage being defined by an end wall having a discharge orifice, the end wall defining an exterior end surface of the nozzle cap body;
• and
• a deflector cap arranged at a downstream end of the nozzle cap body, the deflector cap having a first end defining a deflector surface spaced from the exterior end surface of the nozzle cap body in a longitudinal direction of the spray nozzle assembly and opposing the discharge orifice;
• wherein the exterior end surface of the nozzle cap body and the deflector surface define a radially outwardly extending, annular discharge passage communicating with the discharge orifice and that together with the discharge orifice produces a full hollow cone spray discharge pattern;
• wherein the deflector cap has a second end surface opposite the deflector surface, the second end surface defining an external end surface of the spray nozzle assembly and having a conical configuration.
