Device and method for the treatment of cancerous lesions and the like

A kit for the treatment of cancerous lesions, the kit comprising:

• a device for the treatment of cancerous lesions, the device comprising:
• a protective cannula;
• a tubular suction member adapted to be coaxially housed in the protective cannula, the tubular suction member comprising a cylindrical wall and a distal edge;
• a catheter, adapted to be coaxially housed in the tubular suction member and adapted to internally contain an optical fiber;
• wherein at a distal end of the catheter an expandable balloon is fixed with a sealed connection, so that the expandable balloon can be expanded by means of a fluid delivered through the catheter, the catheter being adapted to project from the distal edge of the tubular suction member with the expandable balloon outside the tubular suction member;
• the optical fiber and the expandable balloon being configured to emit optical energy from a distal end of the optical fiber into the expandable balloon and through a balloon wall when the expandable balloon is expanded;
• wherein the protective cannula is axially movable with respect to the tubular suction member and to the catheter;
• wherein at least one suction pipe and at least one washing liquid feed pipe are provided in the cylindrical wall of the tubular suction member;
• wherein said at least one suction pipe and said at least one washing liquid feed pipe each has a distal end at the distal edge of the cylindrical wall;
• wherein the catheter has two passages, respectively for the entry and for the exit of a fluid for filling and expanding the expandable balloon;
• an external cannula adapted to slidably receive the protective cannula;
• and
• a bioptic needle insertable in the external cannula.

A medical apparatus comprising

• a device for the treatment of cancerous lesions, comprising:
• a protective cannula;
• a tubular suction member adapted to be coaxially housed in the protective cannula, the tubular suction member comprising a cylindrical wall and a distal edge;
• a catheter, adapted to be coaxially housed in the tubular suction member and adapted to internally contain an optical fiber;
• wherein at a distal end of the catheter an expandable balloon is fixed with a sealed connection, so that the expandable balloon can be expanded by means of a fluid delivered through the catheter, the catheter being adapted to project from the distal edge of the tubular suction member with the expandable balloon outside the tubular suction member;
• the optical fiber and the expandable balloon being configured to emit optical energy from a distal end of the optical fiber into the expandable balloon and through a balloon wall when the expandable balloon is expanded;
• wherein the protective cannula is axially movable with respect to the tubular suction member and to the catheter;
• wherein at least one suction pipe and at least one washing liquid feed pipe are provided in the cylindrical wall of the tubular suction member;
• wherein said at least one suction pipe and said at least one washing liquid feed pipe each has a distal end at the distal edge of the cylindrical wall;
• wherein the catheter has two passages, respectively for the entry and for the exit of a fluid for filling and expanding the expandable balloon;
• and
• a laser source couplable to the optical fiber of said device.
