Enhanced group dci format 2_3 for SRS transmission

An apparatus for a user equipment (UE), the apparatus comprising:

• processing circuitry to configure the UE to:
• receive, from a 5th generation NodeB (gNB), a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) having downlink control information (DCI) format 2_3 that includes a dedicated beam indication field, separate from any Transmitter Power Control (TPC) command field in the DCI format 2_3, to indicate a Transmission Configuration Indicator (TCI) state that specifies a spatial domain transmission filter to be applied by the UE for transmission of an aperiodic sounding reference signal (SRS) triggered by the DCI, the DCI format 2_3 having, after an SRS request, one of:
• a single block that includes multiple Transmitter Power Control (TPC) commands and multiple TCI states in which each pair of TPC command and TCI state applies to a different uplink carrier than each other pair of TPC command and TCI state, each TCI state in the single block specifying a first spatial domain transmission filter for SRS transmission on a first corresponding uplink carrier, or
• at least one block that each includes a single TPC command and TCI state in which each block of the at least one block applies to a different uplink carrier than each other block of the at least one block, the TCI state in each block specifying a second spatial domain transmission filter for SRS transmission on a second corresponding uplink carrier;
• and
• transmit, in response to reception of the PDCCH, the aperiodic SRS to the gNB using the first or second spatial domain transmission filter indicated by the TCI state;
• and
• a memory configured to store the DCI.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium that stores instructions for execution by one or more processors of a 5th generation NodeB (gNB), the one or more processors to configure the gNB to, when the instructions are executed:

• transmit, to a user equipment (UE), a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) having downlink control information (DCI) format 2_3 that includes a dedicated beam indication field, separate from any Transmitter Power Control (TPC) command field in the DCI format 2_3, to indicate a Transmission Configuration Indicator (TCI) state that specifies a spatial domain transmission filter to be applied by the UE for transmission of an aperiodic sounding reference signal (SRS) triggered by the DCI, the DCI format 2_3 having, after an SRS request, one of:
• a single block that includes multiple Transmitter Power Control (TPC) commands and multiple TCI states in which each pair of TPC command and TCI state applies to a different uplink carrier than each other pair of TPC command and TCI state, each TCI state in the single block specifying a first spatial domain transmission filter for SRS transmission on a first corresponding uplink carrier, or
• at least one block that each includes a single TPC command and TCI state in which each block of the at least one block applies to a different uplink carrier than each other block of the at least one block, the TCI state in each block specifying a second spatial domain transmission filter for SRS transmission on a second corresponding uplink carrier;
• and
• receive, in response to transmission of the PDCCH, the aperiodic SRS from the UE using the first or second spatial domain transmission filter indicated by the TCI state.
