Contextual generation and selection of customized media content

A system comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• memory coupled to the processor and storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the system to perform operations comprising:
• performing analysis of a conversation comprising a series of messages communicated via an online messaging platform between a set of participants that includes a target user;
• based on the analysis, generating one or more custom media content items for inclusion in a further message from the target user in furtherance of the conversation, each custom media content item including a target avatar associated with the target user, and each custom media content item being customized in appearance based on the analysis of the conversation;
• causing display, on a client device associated with the target user, of the one or more custom media content items as user-selectable candidate media content items for inclusion in the further message by the target user;
• and
• responsive to user-selection of the custom media content item, including the selected media content item in the further message from the target user.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a computer system, cause the computer system to perform operations comprising:

• Performing analysis of a conversation comprising a series of messages communicated via an online messaging platform between a set of participants that includes a target user;
• based on the analysis, generating one or more custom media content items for inclusion in a further message from the target user in furtherance of the conversation, each custom media content item including a target avatar associated with the target user, and each custom media content item being customized in appearance based on the analysis of the conversation;
• causing display, on a client device associated with the target user, of the one or more custom media content items as user-selectable candidate media content items for inclusion in the further message by the target user;
• and
• responsive to user-selection of the custom media content item, including the selected media content item in the further message from the target user.
