Abstract
A profile for a fenestration system includes a first portion and a second portion offset from the first portion and thereby defining an inner space therebetween. The profile for a fenestration system further includes a retention mechanism arranged within the inner space, and one or more communication lines mounted to the retention mechanism.
Claims19
A profile for a fenestration system, comprising:
- a first portion and a second portion offset from the first portion and thereby defining an inner space therebetween, wherein the first portion is an exterior portion exposed to an exterior of the building, and the second portion is an interior portion exposed to an interior of the building;
- a retention mechanism arranged within the inner space, the retention mechanism including:
- an elongate base body extending between and interconnecting the first and second portions;
- a cap attachable to the body;
- and
- a cavity defined between the body and the cap when the cap is attached to the body;
- and
- one or more communication lines mounted to the retention mechanism and housed within the cavity,
- wherein one or more grooves are defined in a material of the body and are sized to receive and accommodate the one or more communication lines, and wherein the one or more grooves extend from the cavity, and
- wherein at least one of the one or more grooves includes an opening and exhibits a width that progressively narrows from the opening as the groove extends into the body.
A profile for a fenestration system comprising:
- a first portion and a second portion offset from the first portion and thereby defining an inner space therebetween, wherein the first portion is an exterior portion exposed to an exterior of the building, and the second portion is an interior portion exposed to an interior of the building;
- a retention mechanism arranged within the inner space, the retention mechanism including:
- an elongate base body extending between and interconnecting the first and second portions;
- a cap attachable to the body;
- and
- a cavity defined between the body and the cap when the cap is attached to the body;
- and
- one or more communication lines mounted to the retention mechanism and housed within the cavity,
- wherein one or more grooves are defined in a material of the body of the retention mechanism and are sized to receive and accommodate the one or more communication lines, and
- wherein one or more protrusions are defined opposite the one or more grooves on an opposing side of the body.
A method of converting a profile that includes a first portion and a second portion offset from the first portion and thereby defining an inner space therebetween, wherein the first portion is an exterior portion exposed to an exterior of a building, and the second portion is an interior portion exposed to an interior of the building, wherein the method includes:
- mounting one or more communication lines to a retention mechanism arranged within the inner space, the retention mechanism including:
- an elongate base body extending between and interconnecting the first and second portions;
- a cap attachable to the body;
- a cavity defined between the body and the cap when the cap is attached to the body;
- and
- one or more grooves defined in a material of the body or the cap and extending from the cavity, wherein each groove is sized to receive and accommodate a corresponding communication line from the one or more communication lines, and wherein at least one of the one or more grooves includes an opening and exhibits a width that progressively narrows from the opening as the groove extends into the body;
- wherein the mounting one or more communication lines comprises:
- retaining a communication line from the one or more communication lines in a corresponding groove of the one or more grooves.
A profile for a fenestration system, comprising:
- a frame portion defining a portion of a building envelope and including a first thermal break;
- a vent portion offset from the frame portion and including a second thermal break, wherein the vent portion is movable relative to the frame portion to mate with the frame portion and thereby enclose the portion of the building envelope;
- a retention mechanism arranged within an inner space defined between the frame and vent portions when the vent portion mates with the frame portion and interposing the first and second thermal breaks, the retention mechanism including an elongate body extending across a width of the profile and attached to at least one of the frame or vent portions, wherein the retention mechanism defines a cavity;
- and
- one or more communication lines received within the cavity.
A profile for a fenestration system, comprising:
- a first portion and a second portion offset from the first portion and thereby defining an inner space therebetween, wherein the first portion is an exterior portion exposed to an exterior of the building, and the second portion is an interior portion exposed to an interior of the building;
- a retention mechanism arranged within the inner space, the retention mechanism including:
- an elongate base body extending between and interconnecting the first and second portions;
- a cap attachable to the body;
- and
- a cavity defined between the body and the cap when the cap is attached to the body,
- wherein a groove is defined in a material of the cap of the retention mechanism and is sized to receive and accommodate a communication line.
