Polymer-based construction materials

An extruded polymer-based construction material comprising:

• a first surface, and
• a second surface opposite the first surface,
• wherein the first surface and the second surface comprise a polymeric composition comprising a polymeric resin;
• wherein the first surface is treated to increase a surface energy from an inherent surface energy to at least 40 dynes/cm2, the surface energy persisting within 20% of 40 dynes/cm2 for at least one month.

An extruded polymer-based construction material comprising:

• a first surface;
• a second surface, wherein the first surface and the second surface are formed from an extruded polymeric composition comprising a polymeric resin and filler;
• the first surface treated to increase a first surface energy from an inherent surface energy to an increased first surface energy of at least 40 dynes/cm2;
• and
• the second surface having a second surface energy,
• wherein the first surface energy is greater than the second surface energy and, wherein the first surface energy persists within 20% of the increased first surface energy for at least three months.

A polymer-based construction material comprising:

• a first surface;
• a second surface, wherein the first surface and the second surface are formed from a common polymeric composition comprising a polymeric resin;
• the first surface treated to increase a first surface energy from an inherent surface energy to at least 40 dynes/cm2;
• and the second surface having a second surface energy, wherein the first surface energy is greater than the second surface energy.
