Abstract
The compound 5-cyclopentadecylpentyl (2-(trimethylammonio)ethyl) phosphate and pharmaceutical compositions thereof are provided for use in the treatment of a protozoal disease in a mammal. A process is also provided for the efficient, large-scale production of said compound.
Claims16
A method of preventing and/or treating a protozoal disease in a mammal in need thereof, said method comprising:
- administering an effective amount of compound 5-cyclopentadecylpentyl (2-(trimethylammonium) ethyl) phosphate having formula
- and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier to said mammals wherein said compound maintains parasite burden below detection limit in spleen and liver of said mammal and said protozoal disease is leishmaniasis or African trypanosomiasis.
