Abstract
The present disclosure describes a modular primary device with removable product encasements. The device includes a removable encasement that is inserted into a modular unit. The device is configured such that it can connect to a second modular unit via connectors attached to the respective encasements. The user can open and close the device and, connect and disconnect one modular unit from an adjacent modular unit by manipulating the connectors which also act as hinges. The innovation is especially suitable for devices having portions composed of materials such as paper, wood, and glass, whose characteristics do not allow tight tolerance dimensioning.
Claims19
A device comprising:
- a dock comprising a plurality of dock platforms and a dock space defined by the plurality of dock platforms, wherein the plurality of dock platforms comprises a top platform, a bottom platform, a first intermediate platform defining a dock upper platform, and a second intermediate platform defining a dock lower platform;
- and
- an encasement comprising an encasement upper platform, an encasement lower platform, an encasement side wall, at least one compartment configured to hold a product, a connector extending from the encasement upper platform, and an opening, wherein the connector and opening are complementary to each other,
- wherein the encasement and the dock are couplable to each other into an assembled form and are uncouplable from each other,
- wherein in the assembled form, the at least one compartment is positioned within the dock space and a periphery of the assembled form is defined by the encasement lower platform, the encasement upper platform, the encasement side wall, and outer portions of the plurality of dock platforms,
- wherein in the assembled form, the dock and the encasement are coupled to each other by the encasement upper platform abutting the top platform and the dock upper platform, and by the encasement lower platform abutting the bottom platform and the dock lower platform, and
- wherein in the assembled form, the dock and the encasement are not coupled together by the connector or by the opening.
