Devices, systems and methods for repairing lumenal systems

A mitral valve prosthesis having an tubular upper portion to reside in an atrium and an downwardly depending posterior skirt to reside in the left ventricle, comprising:

• a tubular upper portion to reside in and urge against the walls of a patient's atrium above and radially outwardly from the patient's mitral annulus;
• a downwardly depending posterior skirt coupled to the tubular upper portion configured to be disposed in a delivery catheter, wherein the downwardly depending posterior skirt is configured to not extend below the mitral annulus in the region of an anterior native mitral valve leaflet of the patient after being deployed;
• wherein the mitral valve prosthesis is configured to be delivered into a patient's heart using a delivery catheter;
• wherein the tubular upper portion of the mitral valve prosthesis is configured to be deployed from the delivery catheter within the patient's left atrium, the tubular upper portion has a funnel shaped circumferential wall, and the funnel shaped tubular upper portion is configured to cause the funnel shaped circumferential wall to urge against cardiac tissue of the left atrium when the funnel shaped circumferential wall is deployed within the patient's left atrium;
• and
• wherein the downwardly depending posterior skirt of the mitral valve prosthesis is configured to be deployed through the mitral annulus into the left ventricle, the downwardly depending posterior skirt is configured to not interfere with the opening and closing of the native anterior mitral valve leaflet and the mitral valve prosthesis further includes at least one posterior leaflet coupled to the downwardly depending posterior skirt that coapts with a native anterior mitral valve leaflet to permit the mitral valve to open and close.
