Laundry treating apparatus

A laundry treating apparatus comprising:

• a cabinet having an opening defined at a front portion thereof;
• a drum rotatably disposed in the cabinet and configured to accommodate laundry;
• a motor configured to provide power to rotate the drum;
• a base disposed below the drum, the base defining a space configured to at least one of (i) receive air discharged from the drum and guide the air to the drum or (ii) receive moisture condensed from the air;
• a heat exchange unit comprising (i) a heat exchanger disposed at the base and configured to condense the moisture from the air or to heat the air and (ii) a compressor configured to supply a refrigerant to the heat exchanger to thereby enable heat exchange between the refrigerant and the air;
• a circulation flow path that is positioned at the base and accommodates the heat exchanger, the circulation flow path being configured to guide the air to the drum;
• and
• a fan disposed in the circulation flow path and configured to cause the air to move,
• wherein the base is divided into (i) a first region in which the circulation flow path, the heat exchanger, and the fan are arranged in a forward-backward direction of the cabinet and (ii) a second region in which a water collection space and a compressor installation space are arranged in the forward-backward direction,
• wherein the motor is positioned to overlap with a rear surface of the drum in the forward-backward direction and is spaced apart from the base,
• wherein the first region and second region are arranged in a width direction of the cabinet,
• wherein a width of the water collection space in the width direction is greater than or equal to a width of the compressor in the width direction, and
• wherein the width of the water collection space in the width direction is greater than one-third of a width of the base and less than one-half of the width of the base.
