Abstract
A main bearing unit of a wind turbine drivetrain, including a tapered roller bearing arranged between a housing of the main bearing unit and the low-speed shaft of the drivetrain; a press-fit connection between an inner surface of the housing and the outer surface of the bearing cup; and facilitating axial displacement of the bearing cup to reinstate preload force on the bearing. A method of reinstating a preload force in a bearing of such a main bearing unit.
Claims16
A main bearing unit of a wind turbine drivetrain, comprising
- a tapered roller bearing arranged between a housing of the main bearing unit and a low-speed shaft of the wind turbine drivetrain;
- a press-fit connection between an inner surface of the housing and an outer surface of a bearing cup;
- and
- a means of facilitating an axial displacement of the bearing cup to reinstate preload force on the tapered roller bearing.

A main bearing unit of a wind turbine drivetrain, comprising:
- a tapered roller bearing arranged between a housing of the main bearing unit and a low-speed shaft of the wind turbine drivetrain;
- a press-fit connection between an inner surface of the housing and an outer surface of a bearing cup;
- and
- a hydraulic circuit configured to facilitate axial displacement of the bearing cup to reinstate preload force on the tapered roller bearing, and passages in the housing arranged to convey pressurized fluid from the hydraulic circuit to one or more regions between the inner surface of the housing and the outer surface of the bearing cup to create a fluid cushion therebetween.
