Abstract
A system and method for separating two or more materials, such as a solid from a liquid, or a solid from a slurry, are provided. An exemplary system and method for separating drill cuttings from drilling fluids are provided, as well as a system and method of processing such separated drill cuttings. In another implementation, a system and method is provided for separating gold (or another mineral, element, or solid) from a slurry or liquid that includes mining cuttings.
Claims17
A system for processing a slurry that includes one or more constituents, the system comprising:
- a receiving vessel configured to receive the slurry that includes the one or more constituents, the receiving vessel having at least a first chamber, a second chamber, and at least one outlet opening in fluid communication with at least a portion of the first and second chamber, wherein the second chamber is at least partially defined by a dividing wall, wherein the dividing wall is at least partially within the receiving vessel and positioned adjacent to the first chamber and the second chamber;
- and
- a separator in fluid communication with the at least one outlet opening to receive the portion of the slurry provided from the at least one outlet opening of the receiving vessel, the separator configured to separate at least a portion of the one or more constituents of the slurry to provide a first constituent output, and to provide a remaining fluid to the receiving vessel.
A method for separating at least a portion of one or more constituents of a slurry, the method comprising:
- receiving a slurry that includes the one or more constituents at a receiving vessel, wherein the receiving vessel further comprises a first chamber and a second chamber, wherein the second chamber is at least partially defined by a dividing wall, and the dividing wall is at least partially within the receiving vessel and positioned adjacent to the first chamber and the second chamber;
- transferring at least a first portion of the slurry from the receiving vessel to at least one outlet opening of the receiving vessel;
- transferring the at least a first portion of the slurry from the at least one outlet opening to a separator;
- separating the slurry between a separated liquid and at least a portion of one of the one or more constituents;
- transferring at least a portion of the separated liquid to the receiving vessel;
- transferring the at least a portion of the one of the one or more constituents to a first location;
- and
- mixing the at least the portion of the separated liquid and at least a second portion of the slurry.
A system for processing a slurry that includes one or more constituents, the system comprising:
- a receiving vessel configured to receive the slurry that includes the one or more constituents, the receiving vessel having one or more output openings operable to provide at least a portion of the slurry at one of the one or more output openings of the receiving vessel;
- an injection port configured to receive a substance to add to the slurry, wherein the substance bonds with one or more of the one or more constituents of the slurry;
- and
- a separator configured to receive the at least the portion of the slurry fluid provided from one of the one or more output openings of the receiving vessel, and to separate at least a portion of the one or more constituents of the slurry to provide a first constituent output, and to provide a remaining fluid to the receiving vessel
- wherein the receiving vessel has at least a first chamber and a second chamber, and the second chamber is at least partially defined by a dividing wall, wherein the dividing wall is at least partially within the receiving vessel and positioned adjacent to the first chamber and the second chamber.
