Abstract
A RASER-inducing contrast agent for magnetic resonance (MR) modalities that includes a parahydrogen addition to unsaturated molecular precursor that renders radio amplification by stimulated emission of radiation (RASER) of protons and other nuclear spins.
Claims5
A method comprising:
- converting a gas, via pairwise addition of p-H2 onto double carbon bonds (C═C) of the gas, into a hyper polarized (HP) gas that exhibits parahydrogen-produced magnetization with negative nuclear spin polarization;
- passing the HP gas into a subject;
- magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, via an MR imaging device, to induce a radio amplification by stimulated emission of radiation condition (RASER condition) in the subject via an interaction between a radio frequency (RF) detector coil operating at a Larmor frequency and the HP gas in the subject, wherein the MR imaging is carried out without employing an RF excitation pulse;
- and
- receiving MR signals induced by the RASER condition to create at least one MR image.
