An aqueous ink jet ink composition includes a coloring material, a betaine, an acetylene glycol-based surfactant, and a water-soluble urethane resin.

An aqueous ink jet ink composition comprising:
- a coloring material;
- a betaine;
- an acetylene glycol-based surfactant;
- and
- a water-soluble urethane resin,
- wherein a content of the water-soluble urethane resin is from 0.05% to 0.8% by mass relative to a total amount of the ink jet ink composition.
