Manipulation device and method

A manipulation device comprising:

• a manipulation unit configured to move according to a movement manipulation applied thereon;
• a sensor configured to output a detection value according to an amount of movement of the manipulation unit;
• a conversion unit configured to convert the detection value into information of a position of the manipulation unit, according to conversion information;
• an adjustment unit configured to adjust a movement limit of the manipulation unit by providing a plurality of movement limit positions for the manipulation unit;
• and
• a creation unit configured to acquire the detection value when the manipulation unit reaches each of the plurality of movement limit positions, thereby obtaining a plurality of detection values corresponding to the plurality of movement limit positions, and to create the conversion information based on the plurality of detection values and pre-set positional information indicating actual positions of the plurality of movement limit positions.
