Abstract
An apparatus, system, or method for vial seal inspection may be based on three-dimensional data that is representative of at least a portion of a vial seal. More particularly, apparatuses, systems, and methods for vial seal inspection may include at least one laser triangulation sensor.
Claims20
A vial seal inspection system, the system comprising:
- a laser triangulation device configured to generate vial seal distance data, wherein:
- the vial seal distance data is representative of a plurality of distance measurements correlated with points along at least a portion of a line that extends from a top of the vial seal to a bottom edge of the vial seal, and
- the laser triangulation device has a non-perpendicular scan angle to generate distance measurements including a z-axis distance component;
- a first set of computer readable instructions stored on a memory that, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to obtain vial seal periphery data, wherein the vial seal periphery data is representative of a plurality of points along at least a portion of a line that extends around a periphery of the vial seal;
- a second set of computer readable instructions stored on a memory that, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to generate vial seal three-dimensional data based on the vial seal distance data and the vial seal periphery data, wherein the vial seal three-dimensional data includes a vial seal lower edge;
- and
- a third set of computer readable instructions stored on a memory that, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to generate vial seal inspection data based on a comparison of the vial seal three-dimensional data with previously classified vial seal three-dimensional data, wherein the vial seal inspection data is indicative of whether the vial seal includes a vial seal crimp.
A vial seal inspection device, the device comprising:
- a sensor configured to generate vial seal distance data, wherein;
- the vial seal distance data is representative of a plurality of distance measurements correlated with points along at least a portion of a line that extends from a top of the vial seal to a bottom edge of the vial seal, and
- the sensor has a non-perpendicular scan angle to generate distance measurements including a z-axis distance component;
- a vial seal periphery data, wherein the vial seal periphery data is representative of a plurality of points along at least a portion of a line that extends around a periphery of the vial seal;
- and
- a second set of computer readable instructions stored on a memory that, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to generate vial seal three-dimensional data based on the vial seal distance data and the vial seal periphery data, wherein the vial seal three-dimensional data includes a vial seal lower edge.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-readable instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to generate vial seal three-dimensional data, the computer-readable medium comprising:
- a first set of computer readable instructions that, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to receive vial seal distance data from a laser triangulation device, wherein;
- the vial seal distance data is representative of a plurality of distance measurements correlated with points along at least a portion of a line that extends from a top of the vial seal to a bottom edge of the vial seal, and
- the laser triangulation device has a non-perpendicular scan angle to generate distance measurements including a z-axis distance component;
- a second set of computer readable instructions that, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to receive vial seal periphery data, wherein the vial seal periphery data is representative of a plurality of points along at least a portion of a line that extends around a periphery of the vial seal;
- and
- a third set of computer readable instructions that, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to generate vial seal three-dimensional data based on the vial seal distance data and the vial seal periphery data, wherein the vial seal three-dimensional data includes a vial seal lower edge.
