Abstract
A protection structure for civil works including at least one metal protection net. The at least one metal protection net has a plurality of elongate resistant elements in the form of wire, rope or cable. At least some of the plurality of elongate resistant elements are made from a material having superelastic behaviour.
Claims5
A protection structure for civil works comprising:
- at least one metal protection net comprising a plurality of elongate resistant elements in the form of wire, rope or cable;
- wherein only some of the plurality of elongate resistant elements are made from a material having superelastic behaviour;
- wherein at least one of the plurality of elongate resistant elements in the form of wire, rope or cable comprises a resilient segment which is made from the material having superelastic behaviour;
- a resistant portion of the wire, rope or cable being initially arranged to be loose and beside the resilient segment, the resistant portion being tensioned while the resilient segment extends until an extension of the resilient segment is ended when a predetermined limit, which is less than a plastic deformation limit of the resilient segment, is reached;
- and
- wherein the resilient segment has a first length between two fixing locations and the resistant portion has a second length between the two fixing locations which is greater than a non-deformed length of the resilient segment.
