Abstract
This disclosure presents electrochromic devices that incorporate an n-doped organic conductive polymer, which can function as a transparent conductor, and/or ion storage material, and/or an electrochromic material in the electrochromic devices.
Claims20
An electrochromic device, comprising:
- a first insulating substrate;
- a first conducting layer disposed over the first insulating substrate;
- an ion storage layer disposed over the first conducting layer;
- an electrolyte layer disposed over the ion storage layer;
- an electrochromic layer disposed over the electrolyte layer;
- a second conducting layer disposed over the electrochromic layer;
- and
- a second insulating substrate disposed over the second conducting layer;
- wherein the first conducting layer or the second conducting layer or the ion storage layer, or any combination of the first conducting layer, the second conducting layer, and the ion storage layer, comprises an n-doped organic conductive polymer with a formula of
- wherein X is O, S, or Se;
- each of m and n is an integer greater than zero;
- each of R1 and R2 is independently selected from one of hydrogen or C1-C10 alkyl;
- M+ is a cation, and m− is negative charges that balance mM+.
