Micro-optic device

A micro-optic device, comprising:

• a substrate including a first surface and a second surface;
• optical elements;
• and
• image elements, wherein the optical elements and the image elements are integrally formed as a unitary structure located on the first or the second surface of the substrate, and
• a reflective layer, provided between at least one of (i) the substrate and the unitary structure or (ii) the unitary structure and an observer as a translucent coating over the optical elements and the image elements;
• wherein the image elements are arranged to be sampled by the optical elements with the reflective layer to form a focusing structure configured to produce a first optical effect observable from the first surface of the substrate, and the same image elements are arranged to be sampled by the optical elements with the reflective layer to form the focusing structure configured to produce a second optical effect observable from the second surface of the substrate.
