Abstract
A method of operating a cooktop appliance in a sauce reduction mode includes operating a heating element of the cooktop appliance at a first power level during a preheat stage and operating the heating element at a second power level during a reduction stage after the preheat stage. The second power level is different from the first power level. The method further includes determining that the reduction stage has ended and decreasing the power level of the heating element because the reduction stage has ended. The method also includes providing a user notification that the sauce reduction mode is complete.
Claims16
A cooktop appliance, comprising:
- a user interface;
- a heating element positioned at a cooking surface of the cooktop appliance;
- and
- a controller in communication with a temperature sensor configured to measure a temperature at a utensil heated by the heating element, the controller configured for:
- receiving a sauce attribute selection;
- receiving a sauce reduction mode initiation signal, wherein the sauce reduction mode initiation signal does not include a user-selected time or temperature threshold;
- initiating a sauce reduction mode in response to the sauce reduction mode initiation signal, wherein the sauce reduction mode is fully automated, the sauce reduction mode comprising:
- operating the heating element at a first power level during a preheat stage;
- operating the heating element at a second power level during a reduction stage after the preheat stage, wherein the second power level is different from the first power level;
- determining a reduction time based on the selected sauce attribute;
- determining that the reduction stage has ended based on the reduction time;
- decreasing the power level of the heating element because the reduction stage has ended;
- and
- providing a user notification that the sauce reduction mode is complete.
A method of operating a cooktop appliance, the cooktop appliance comprising a user interface, a heating element positioned at a cooking surface of the cooktop appliance, and a controller in communication with a temperature sensor configured to measur temperature at a utensil heated by the heating element, the method comprising:
- receiving a sauce attribute selection;
- receiving a sauce reduction mode initiation signal, wherein the sauce reduction mode initiation signal does not include a user-selected time or temperature threshold;
- operating the heating element at a first power level during a preheat stage;
- operating the heating element at a second power level during a reduction stage after th preheat stage, wherein the second power level is different from the first power level;
- determining a reduction time based on the selected sauce attribute;
- determining that the reduction stage has ended based on the reduction time;
- decreasing the power level of the heating element because the reduction stage has end and
- providing a user notification that the sauce reduction mode is complete.
