Image processing system, image processing method, and storage medium

An image processing method comprising:

• determining a region of a foreground object in a first image captured by an imaging apparatus included in a first imaging apparatus group that is set up in a facility;
• generating a foreground image including the foreground object;
• generating a background image based on a second image captured by an imaging apparatus included in a second imaging apparatus group that is different from the first imaging apparatus group and that is set up in the facility, without determining a region of the foreground object in the second image;
• and
• generating a virtual viewpoint image according to a virtual viewpoint based on the generated foreground image and the generated background image,
• wherein an imaging range of an imaging apparatus included in the second imaging apparatus group is wider than an imaging range of each imaging apparatus included in the first imaging apparatus group.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a computer program which, when run on a computer, causes the computer to execute an image processing method comprising:

• determining a region of a foreground object in a first image captured by an imaging apparatus included in a first imaging apparatus group that is set up in a facility;
• generating a foreground image including the foreground object;
• generating a background image not including the foreground object based on a second image captured by an imaging apparatus included in a second imaging apparatus group that is different from the first imaging apparatus group and that is set up in the facility, without determining a region of the foreground object in the second image;
• and
• generating a virtual viewpoint image according to a virtual viewpoint based on the generated foreground image and the generated background image,
• wherein an imaging range of an imaging apparatus included in the second imaging apparatus group is wider than an imaging range of each imaging apparatus included in the first imaging apparatus group.
