Abstract
A method for inspecting an object includes receiving or determining inspection image data, the inspection image data including an inspection image pixel array with at least one inspection image pixel in the inspection image pixel array having a pixel property associated therewith. The method includes receiving via a processor a user input associated with a continuous segment of inspection image pixels in the inspection image pixel array. The method includes determining a property of the object based on the pixel properties associated with the continuous segment of inspection image pixels in the inspection image pixel array.
Claims20
A method for inspecting an object, the method comprising:
- receiving an inspection image, the inspection image including one or more inspection image pixel arrays including at least one inspection image pixel and a corresponding location of each of the at least one inspection image pixel;
- determining an orientation of the object relative to an optical sensor from the inspection image via a pose recovery regression;
- determining guide image data from a 3D model representative of the object in the determined orientation, wherein the guide image data includes one or more guide image pixel arrays, wherein the 3D model includes associated properties that are projected onto the one or more guide image pixel arrays;
- associating the one or more guide image pixel arrays with the corresponding one or more inspection image pixel arrays, wherein the one or more guide image pixel arrays further includes at least one guide image pixel having a pixel property, wherein the pixel property is a value representing a physical property of the object determined for each guide image pixel of the one or more guide image pixel arrays associated with the at least one inspection image pixel showing a portion of the object;
- generating a properties map by combining the one or more guide image pixel arrays including the at least one guide image pixel having the associated pixel property, wherein, in generating the properties map, only the corresponding location of each of the at least one inspection image pixel and the orientation of the object in the inspection image are used from the inspection image;
- receiving, via a processor, a user input or a computing system input designating a continuous segment of inspection image pixels in the one or more inspection image pixel arrays, wherein the continuous segment is representative of damage of an engine component;
- and
- determining at least two properties of the object from the properties map relating to the continuous segment of inspection image pixels based on the pixel properties associated with the at least one inspection image pixel in the one or more inspection image pixel arrays that are designated as the continuous segment, wherein a first property of the at least two properties includes a distance, and wherein a second property of the at least two properties includes a location of the designated continuous segment, wherein the distance is calculated, estimated, or measured from a first adjacent pixel of the first inspection image pixel array to a second adjacent pixel of the first inspection image array, wherein the distance is determined by making a shortest straight line from a middle of the first adjacent pixel to the second adjacent pixel, and wherein the distance represents a length of damage to the object.
An inspection system, comprising:
- a visual image recording device configured to generate an inspection image of an object;
- and
- a computing system comprising a processor, the computing system configured to:
- receive the inspection image, the inspection image including one or more inspection image pixel arrays including at least one inspection image pixel and a corresponding location of each of the at least one inspection image pixel;
- determine an orientation of the object relative to an optical sensor from the inspection image via a pose recovery regression;
- determine guide image data from a 3D model representative of the object in the determined orientation, wherein the guide image data includes one or more guide image pixel arrays, wherein the 3D model includes associated properties that are projected onto the one or more guide image pixel arrays;
- associate the one or more guide image pixel arrays with the corresponding one or more inspection image pixel arrays, wherein the one or more guide image pixel arrays further includes at least one guide image pixel having a pixel property, wherein the pixel property is a value representing a property of the object determined for each guide image pixel of the one or more guide image pixel arrays associated with the at least one inspection image pixel showing a portion of the object;
- generate a properties map by combining the one or more guide image pixel arrays including the at least one guide image pixel having the associated pixel property, wherein only the corresponding location of each of the at least one inspection image pixel and the orientation of the object in the inspection image are used from the inspection image to generate the properties map;
- designate a continuous segment of inspection image pixels in the one or more inspection image pixel arrays, wherein the continuous segment is representative of damage of an engine component;
- and
- determine at least two properties of the object from the properties map relating to the continuous segment of inspection image pixels based on the pixel properties associated with the at least one inspection image pixel in the one or more inspection image pixel arrays that are designated as the continuous segment, wherein a first property of the at least two properties includes a distance, and wherein a second property of the at least two properties includes a location of the designated continuous segment, wherein the distance is calculated, estimated, or measured from a first adjacent pixel of the first inspection image pixel array to a second adjacent pixel of the first inspection image array, wherein the distance is determined by making a shortest straight line from a middle of the first adjacent pixel to the second adjacent pixel, and wherein the distance represents a length of damage to the object.
