LLM-assisted hierarchical code review system

A computer-implemented method for automated code review, comprising:

• receiving a code change request associated with a hierarchical organizational structure having multiple organizational levels;
• identifying a hierarchical position within the organizational structure corresponding to the code change request;
• retrieving a plurality of code review rules from a hierarchical knowledge base comprises performing a hybrid retrieval operation, wherein the hybrid retrieval operation comprises executing a dense vector similarity search to identify semantically related rules and executing a sparse keyword-based search to identify specific technical requirements, wherein the hierarchical knowledge base stores code review rules organized according to the hierarchical organizational structure, and wherein the plurality of code review rules includes rules from multiple organizational levels of the hierarchical organizational structure;
• applying the plurality of code review rules to the code change request using a large language model to generate code review feedback, wherein the code review feedback identifies the hierarchical level associated with each rule applied;
• and
• providing the code review feedback for the code change request.
