Abstract
A pellet comprising C-grade iron fines and a binder; a method of producing said pellet, comprising mixing the C-grade iron fines and the binder to form a mixture and agglomerating the mixture to form a pellet; and a method of producing steel, comprising heating a pellet comprising C-grade iron fines and a binder in an electric arc furnace.

A pellet comprising,
- a plurality of C-grade iron fines;
- and
- a binder;
- wherein the plurality of C-grade iron fines comprises a plurality of particles of scrap metal;
- wherein the plurality of particles have a particle size distribution, the particle size distribution having a particle size range from 50 μm to 10 mm, which remain after the sorting of air cooled slag;
- wherein the scrap metal comprises at least one of a metallic iron and a ferroalloy, the scrap metal selected from the group consisting of:
- a plurality of unprocessed iron fines, each of the plurality of unprocessed iron fines having a wt % range of 20 to 40 of at least one of metallic iron and ferroalloy, and
- a plurality of processed iron fines having a wt % range of 50 to 95 of at least one of metallic iron and ferroalloy;
- wherein the binder is selected from the group consisting of at least one inorganic binder, at least one organic binder, or a combination thereof.

A pellet comprising,
- a plurality of C-grade iron fines;
- and
- a binder;
- wherein the plurality of C-grade iron fines comprises a plurality of particles of scrap metal;
- wherein the plurality of particles have a particle size distribution, the particle size distribution having a particle size range from 50 μm to 10 mm, which remain after the sorting of air cooled slag;
- wherein of scrap metal comprises at least one of a metallic iron and a ferroalloy, of scrap metal selected from the group consisting of:
- a plurality of unprocessed iron fines, each of the plurality of unprocessed iron fines having a wt % range of 20 to 40 of at least one of metallic iron and ferroalloy, and
- a plurality of processed iron fines having a wt % range of 50 to 95 of at least one of metallic iron and ferroalloy;
- wherein the binder is selected from the group consisting of at least one organic binder, or a combination of the at least one organic binder and at least one inorganic binder;
- wherein the at least one organic binder comprises a polymeric organic binder selected from the group consisting of polyacrylamide resin, resole resin, novolac resin, polyvinyl alcohol, and a polysaccharide.
