Sidelink radio link management

A first wireless device comprising one or more processors and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the first wireless device to:

• receive, from a base station, one or more messages indicating a threshold number of radio link control (RLC) packet retransmissions associated with a sidelink radio link failure, wherein:
• the first wireless device has a radio resource control (RRC) connection with a second wireless device;
• a first logical channel is associated with one or more first carrier frequencies;
• and
• a second logical channel is associated with one or more second carrier frequencies;
• transmit, to the second wireless device:
• first packets associated with the first logical channel via the one or more first carrier frequencies;
• and
• second packets associated with the second logical channel via the one or more second carrier frequencies, wherein the second packets are duplications of the first packets;
• after a number of retransmissions of an RLC packet associated with the first logical channel reaches the threshold number, determine a connection failure of the RRC connection between the first wireless device and the second wireless device;
• and
• transmit, to the base station, an indication of the connection failure associated with the second wireless device.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a first wireless device, cause the first wireless device to:

• receive, from a base station, one or more messages indicating a threshold number of radio link control (RLC) packet retransmissions associated with a sidelink radio link failure, wherein:
• the first wireless device has a radio resource control (RRC) connection with a second wireless device;
• a first logical channel is associated with one or more first carrier frequencies;
• and
• a second logical channel is associated with one or more second carrier frequencies;
• transmit, to the second wireless device:
• first packets associated with the first logical channel via the one or more first carrier frequencies;
• and
• second packets associated with the second logical channel via the one or more second carrier frequencies, wherein the second packets are duplications of the first packets;
• after a number of retransmissions of an RLC packet associated with the first logical channel reaches the threshold number, determine a connection failure of the RRC connection between the first wireless device and the second wireless device;
• and
• transmit, to the base station, an indication of the connection failure associated with the second wireless device.
