Media processing device and components for activatable media platforms

A media processing device, comprising:

• a printing assembly configured to process a media element as the media element passes through the printing assembly, the media element comprises an environmental sensor having an activated configuration in which the environmental sensor is configured to change from an initial sensor state to a second sensor state in response to exposure to a predetermined environmental condition and a non-activated configuration in which the environmental sensor is configured to remain in the initial sensor state in response to exposure to the predetermined environmental condition;
• and
• an activation mechanism configured to apply a force equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold to at least a portion of the environmental sensor to transition the environmental sensor from the non-activated configuration to the activated configuration, the activation mechanism comprising at least one of
• (a) a roller having an abrasive jacket,
• (b) a roller having an abrasive coated on an outer surface of the roller,
• (c) a roller having microneedles on the outer surface of the roller,
• (d) a roller having a texture or pattern cut into the outer surface of the roller,
• (e) a ribbon having an abrasive applied thereto,
• (f) a ribbon having an texture or pattern cut in an outer surface of the ribbon, or
• (g) a ribbon having microneedles on the outer surface of the ribbon.
