Visual perception assistance apparatus and method

A depth perception assistance method, comprising:

• rendering, for display, a virtual environment, the virtual environment comprising one or more virtual elements;
• selecting one or more virtual elements in dependence upon whether at least part of the one or more of the virtual elements satisfies one or more predefined motion-based criteria;
• and
• for a given selected virtual element, adapting one or more aspects associated with an appearance of the given selected virtual element in dependence upon a distance between the given selected virtual element and a predetermined location within the virtual environment.

A non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium containing computer program comprising computer executable instructions adapted to cause a computer system to perform a depth perception assistance method, comprising:

• rendering, for display, a virtual environment, the virtual environment comprising one or more virtual elements;
• selecting one or more virtual elements in dependence upon whether at least part of the one or more of the virtual elements satisfies one or more predefined motion-based criteria;
• and
• for a given selected virtual element, adapting one or more aspects associated with an appearance of the given selected virtual element in dependence upon a distance between the given selected virtual element and a predetermined location within the virtual environment.
