The disclosure thus relates to the plants, seeds, and tissue cultures of the variety CV989440, and to methods for producing a corn plant produced by crossing a corn plant of variety CV989440 with itself or with another corn plant, such as a plant of another variety. The disclosure further relates to corn seeds and plants produced by crossing plants of variety CV989440 with plants of another variety, such as another inbred line. The disclosure further relates to the inbred and hybrid genetic complements of plants of variety CV989440.

A plant of corn variety CV989440, wherein representative seeds of corn variety CV989440 have been deposited under NCMA Accession No. 202306071.
A seed of corn variety CV989440, further comprising a transgene, wherein said transgene was introduced into corn variety CV989440 by backcrossing or genetic transformation, wherein representative seeds of corn variety CV989440 have been deposited under NCMA Accession No. 202306071, and wherein a plant grown from said seed comprises the transgene and otherwise comprises all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of corn variety CV989440 when grown under the same environmental conditions.
A plant of corn variety CV989440 further comprising a single locus conversion, wherein representative seeds of corn variety CV989440 have been deposited under NCMA Accession No. 202306071, and wherein said plant otherwise comprises all the morphological and physiological characteristics of corn variety CV989440.
