System and method for optimized arrival procedure selection through FMS

A system for an aircraft, the system comprising:

• a flight display;
• and
• a flight management system comprising:
• a memory maintaining program instructions;
• and
• one or more processors configured to execute the program instructions causing the one or more processors to:
• get a plurality of arrival procedures, an availability status associated with the plurality of arrival procedures, and wind data;
• calculate an estimated fuel on board and an estimated time of arrival for each of the plurality of arrival procedures which are available;
• determine a priority of the plurality of arrival procedures based first on maximizing a headwind during each of the plurality of arrival procedures, second on maximizing the estimated fuel on board, and third on minimizing the estimated time of arrival;
• and
• cause the flight display to display the plurality of arrival procedures which are available based on the priority and to display the headwind, the estimated fuel on board, and the estimated time of arrival adjacent to the plurality of arrival procedures.
