Kit for bearing extraction from a stuffing box of a rotary mechanical device

A kit for a bearing or bushing seal body for installation into a seal cavity of a mechanical device having an inner bore and a shaft therethrough with improved ease of removal of the seal body, comprising:

• a substantially rigid cylindrical seal body having a sidewall with a top end and a bottom end defining a length of the seal body and having an outer surface closely dimensioned to the inner bore and formed with close tolerances to the shaft, the substantially rigid cylindrical seal body being axially split in half along a diameter and having at least one axial jack screw hole through the sidewall of the body not along the split diameter from the top end to the bottom end of the body for receiving a jack screw;
• and
• at least one jack screw having a length greater than the length of the seal body for insertion into the jack screw hole to press against a bottom of the seal cavity to push the substantially rigid cylindrical seal body out of the seal cavity.
